Acceptable Use Policy

What you can and cannot do with NanoAPI, the extra rules for developers using the API, how we check content and what happens when the rules are broken

2026/10/23

This Acceptable Use Policy explains what you may and may not create, submit or share with NanoAPI, through the API, in the online playground and on share links (together, the "Service"). It is part of our Terms of Service. If you build a product on the API, it also applies to everything your users submit through it.

Key points

  • NanoAPI does not allow adult content. Sexually explicit content, nudity and sexualized content are blocked.
  • Content that sexualizes minors is banned. We close the account and report it to the relevant authorities.
  • Only use media you have the right to use, and only show real people who have agreed to it.
  • Do not use the Service for fraud or deception, including getting past identity verification or other biometric checks.
  • If you build on the API, you are responsible for your users: set rules, check content, handle reports and stop abuse (Section 6).
  • Respect the API's limits. Do not share keys, get around limits, run load tests or probe our systems (Section 7).
  • Inputs that break our content policy make the task fail with content_policy, and the frozen amount is released.
  • You can report content with the Report link on a creation, or by emailing support@nanoapi.ai.

1. Adult and sexual content

NanoAPI is not an adult service. You must not create, submit or share:

  • sexually explicit or pornographic content, including real, simulated or implied sexual acts;
  • nudity, including exposed genitals, buttocks or female nipples, and edits that remove clothing or make it see-through;
  • sexually suggestive content that focuses on intimate body parts or is designed to arouse;
  • fetish content; or
  • prompts, images or videos designed to get around these rules, such as misspelled or coded words, or media that has been cropped or edited to hide nudity.

These rules apply to your prompts, the images and videos you upload or link to, and the results you generate.

2. Minors

Any content that sexualizes, exploits or endangers a minor is strictly prohibited. This includes suggestive content and content that places a minor in a sexual context. Do not combine images of children with sexual or suggestive prompts or source videos. We permanently close accounts that try to create such content, and we report it to the relevant authorities.

3. Real people

You may use the Service with photos and videos of yourself and of people who have agreed to it. You must not use it to:

  • create sexual or nude images or videos of a real person;
  • use someone's face, body or voice without their consent;
  • impersonate a real person, or present generated content as real footage of them, to mislead, defraud or harass people or to damage someone's reputation; or
  • create deceptive content about public figures, such as fake statements, fake endorsements or election misinformation.

4. Fraud, identity and deception

You must not use the Service to:

  • get past identity verification, liveness detection, face or voice authentication or any other biometric check;
  • create fake identities, fake documents or fake evidence, or support scams, phishing or other fraud;
  • produce content designed to deceive people in a harmful way, such as fake news, fake reviews or testimonials, or defamation; or
  • run coordinated campaigns that use generated people or footage to mislead people, including about elections and political issues.

5. Other prohibited content

You must also not use the Service to create or share content that:

  • harasses, bullies or threatens anyone, or promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm or hatred against people because of who they are;
  • infringes intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights; or
  • is otherwise unlawful or promotes illegal activity.

You must not try to bypass our safety checks, for example by repeatedly rewording prompts or editing media to get blocked content through, and you must not create new accounts to get around a suspension or ban.

6. Building products on the API

If you use the API to power your own app, website or service, you are responsible for how it is used, as described in Section 4.7 of our Terms of Service. In particular:

  • Set rules for your users. Your terms must forbid the content and uses described in this policy, and you must enforce them.
  • Check and limit what your users do. Use safeguards that suit your product, such as requiring sign-in, limiting how much each user can generate, and checking prompts and media before you submit them. Do not pass on requests that you know or should reasonably know break this policy.
  • Handle reports. Give your users and the people shown in content a way to report it. Act on reports promptly, and remove content and stop users who break the rules, including when we ask you to.
  • Respect consent. If your product lets users upload photos or videos of people, ask them to confirm that everyone shown has agreed, and remove content when someone shown in it objects.
  • Be open with your users. Tell them that results are AI-generated and that their content is processed by third-party AI providers, and label AI-generated content where the law or the platform it is published on requires it.
  • Mind the audience. Do not offer your product to children under 13, or under the minimum age required by law where your users live.

You must not build or run products whose main purpose is to break this policy, for example:

  • "undress", nudify or other apps that sexualize real people;
  • services that put identifiable people into videos without their consent, such as deepfakes of specific people on request;
  • tools for impersonating real people, or for getting past identity verification or biometric checks; or
  • products aimed at children that let users generate videos of people.

7. Technical rules for the API

You must not:

  • share, sell or publish your API keys, or let your users access the API with them;
  • get around rate limits or task limits, for example with several accounts or by rotating keys, or create accounts automatically;
  • run load tests, stress tests, penetration tests or vulnerability scans without our written permission;
  • systematically test or probe our content checks, for example by submitting many variations of blocked content to find gaps;
  • submit media URLs or webhook URLs designed to make our systems reach private networks, internal services or systems you are not authorized to access, or point webhooks at endpoints you do not control;
  • reverse engineer the Service, or try to identify or extract the underlying models or reach our providers' systems other than through the API; or
  • interfere with, overload or disrupt the Service, or hide or falsify where your requests come from.

The full API rules are in Section 4 of our Terms of Service. To report a security issue, see Section 10 below.

8. How we check content

  • API requests. Tasks created through the API are checked by our generation backend and by the model providers it works with. If inputs break our content policy, the task fails with the reason content_policy, and its full frozen amount is released to your balance. A task that fails this way is not charged.
  • Playground, before generation. Every prompt goes through a keyword filter and AI moderation models run by WaveSpeed AI. Images and videos are checked when you upload them, and images and videos from other sites are checked before the task is submitted. A request that fails a check is not submitted, so you are not charged.
  • Playground, after generation. Every result is checked again before it is delivered. A result that fails the check is withheld: it is not delivered to you and is not shown anywhere on the Service. The generation has already run, so its charge is not returned automatically. If you believe a result was withheld by mistake, contact support@nanoapi.ai: we will review it and credit your balance where appropriate.
  • When in doubt, we block. If a playground check cannot be completed, for example because the moderation service does not respond, the content is treated as blocked.
  • Monitoring. We review patterns of use, such as repeated content_policy failures from an account, to spot abuse.
  • Reports. We review reports from users and from people shown in content (see Section 10).

Automated checks are not perfect, and passing them does not mean content is allowed. If you believe your content was blocked by mistake, contact support@nanoapi.ai.

9. What happens when the rules are broken

Depending on how serious a violation is and whether it has happened before, we may:

  • block the task or upload;
  • remove the content from Community and share pages, or delete it;
  • warn you, or ask you to remove content or stop a user of your product;
  • disable API keys, lower your rate limits or limit features such as public sharing or API access; or
  • suspend or permanently close your account. The remaining balance on an account closed for breaking these rules is forfeited, as described in our Terms of Service.

Content that sexualizes minors leads to immediate, permanent account closure and a report to the authorities. Repeated attempts to get adult content past our checks are a serious violation and can lead to account closure. Charges for tasks that broke these rules are not returned.

10. Reporting content and security issues

If you see content made with the Service that breaks this policy, or that shows you without your consent:

  • use the Report link on the creation in Community or on its share page; or
  • email support@nanoapi.ai with a link to the content, such as the share page or result link.

Tell us which content it is and why you are reporting it. We review every report and handle reports involving minors or intimate imagery first. When content breaks this policy, we remove it, or have the developer whose product created it remove it, and take action against the account. If it shows you, or someone you represent, without consent, we remove it.

To report a security vulnerability, email support@nanoapi.ai with the details, and give us reasonable time to fix it before you disclose it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
